Puerto Rico Capitol Reviews
Jan 26, 2008
The Puerto Rico Capitol received over 120,000 visitors in 2007. Located within walking distance of several of the cruise ship terminals, it is open seven days a week during the day and on Tuesday evenings. Built in the 1920's, it houses Puerto Rico's bicameral Legislative Assembly. It is one of the most beautiful of the nation's 55 state capitols and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and San Juan Bay. Bilingual guides are available to provide information on the impressive Rotunda, the floors of the Senate and the newly renovated House of Representatives, histroric galleries, art exhibits and general history. Visitors may also tour on their own Puerto Rico's Memorial Wall, which honors the thousands of Puerto Ricans who have given their life as a part of our nation's Armed Forces in every war since World War I. Puerto Ricans may be especially interested in the Manuel Zeno Gandía Plaza and the Santiago Iglesias Pantín Plaza, which house statues of both Puerto Rican patriots.
