Puerto Penasco Vacation Guide
Puerto Peñasco commonly known as Rocky Point was once a sleepy little town in the Mexican state of Sonora. Located on the northern shore of the Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California) it is approximately 75 miles south of the US - Mexican Border of Lukeville, AZ and Sonoita, Sonora, Mexico
For the many that visit Rocky Point, this is "Arizona's Closest Beach Resort". It is only a mere 4 hour or less drive from Phoenix. Until a few years ago, many of the visitors would bypass the few hotels to camp out on Sandy Beach and ride their off-road vehicles into the wee hours of the morning. Of course this was accompanied with mass amounts of Coronas and Tequila shots.
Today however, Rocky Point has become a boom town so to speak. Where all terrain vehicles once roamed now stands high-rise condos and exclusive resorts. While the scenery has changed over the years it still retains its almost wild west attitude. Rocky Point remains a beacon for weekend vacationers and spring breakers alike from the Southwestern United States.

I took a long weekend trip south of the boarder to Rocky Point, Mexico. We had an amazing time playing at the pool, swimming in ocean, jet skying, club hopping, and just all around chilling out. Check out some of the photos of our trip.
