Cozy bar with great local wines Jun 06, 2013
Just around the corner of our hotel the Parador de Caceres we had spotted a small wine bar as we drove in the hotel parking. From outside the place just looked like a hole in a very old wall because of the power of the sun in the street. The street was narrow and one side was a part of the palace that was our hotel and it was covered with loads of flowers.
We entered the bar that had numerous small high bar tables and chairs that pretty much filled the small room, The ceiling was impressive stonework that probably dated back to when the city wall was built as this building was an integrated part of the wall itself. There were few customers when we arrived and most of them women enjoying the wine and looking at the ponytailed waiter running in between the tables with re-filler of the glasses and new tapas from the kitchen.
We found a corner of the bar near a row of chilled white wine and ordered a couple of glasses from a local producer. The wine was great and the atmosphere was relaxed and we shortly after decided to take a couple of glasses more. It was a cozy place and with a real speedy waiter. We were both impressed how he rapidly he managed to dive under the bar and served the wine hungry ladies of this great bar.
