Pueblo Nuevo Guest House
Pueblo Nuevo Guest House Bayano Reviews
Pueblo Nuevo Guest House Feb 22, 2014
Pueblo Nuevo Guest House is an “eco tourism building” that villagers made for people that would come and visit this remote area of the lake Bayano.
It is a bit tricky to get to that side because your only transport are locals that go there because they live in the village, and there is one guy that is “the main tourist guy” that kinds of organizes transport that you need. Issue is that guy is extremely sleazy asshole that tried to charge me $80 for transport there and back. Just to make sure that you guys understand that overpricing, regular price is $3 and DO NOT ACCEPT anything higher than that. Guys name is Miguel or something like that starting on M…
Anyway so I got in the boat with some other guy that was going to Pueblo Nuevo and I was on the way across the lake (takes some 20 min). Be prepared to wait a bit until someone is on the way there and always keep asking if someone is going there. It took me some 3 hours to find the transportation.
Arriving on the other side of the lake, Guest house is one of the first buildings you can see. It is nested on the edge of the forest right after grassy area of the lending. “Port” or the landing area is actually inside of the small creek and it is as raw as you can imagine. Villagers did not bother to make their life easier in any way so they still just slam into the bank of the creek and there you go, walk in mud…
That creek is the same water that comes out of the cave, the main reason why I got to this place.
Cabin is very simple, actually super simple wooden place that protects you from the rain and that is it.
They made a bit elevated platform (some three or four steps up) that hosts two compartments (rooms) and small veranda. On the veranda there is long table good for chilling and sitting on it.
There are no locks on the doors and simple piece of rope is the only security you will have from someone coming in… Well this area should be safe and in general people in remote areas don’t steel, but it was not that easy to leave all my stuff inside and go around. Bed is consisted of a wooden platform a bit elevated from the floor and they put some mattress and mosquito net on the top. There are some large bugs around so if you are not into insects, this place is not for you. Building is made with lots of holes and there is no connection with the roof. Wall between rooms also does not go up too far, so anyone can easily jump in from the sides. Bathroom is interesting and I luckily did not have reason to go inside. Shower can be done at the pipe that stands outside of the building.
House is located right on the entrance to the caving system, so you can go there easily.
They will charge you for this place $10 and only food that you can find in town is on the top of the hill in the pink house. Lady will make some basic food plates with meat and rice and charge $4 for it. If you don’t really want to stay in this place you should not even consider it. It would be better if I just took out my hammock and put mosquito net on the top of me.
