For a little more relaxed day we decided on going to the volcanic caves at the foot of Mt Villarrica. We picked up a map at the tourist information centre and headed off to give polar bear another workout.
Most of the road was fine, but the last few km were quite rough and the her bottom got a …

Pucón is the major centre of adventure tourism in Chile. You can do many activities here, for example rafting, hiking, horse back riding and fishing. In the winter or spring you can go to mount Villarica to go skiing or snowboarding. There are also several thermal baths to warm you up.

We all slept pretty well on the bus and arrived in Pucon in the morning. We dragged all out equipment to Ecole Hostel. We had a lot of questions for the guy at the front desk: Where is the best place to rent a car? How do we get to Villarrica? What other volcanoes could he recommend for ski tou…

29 April: I took the 6am bus from San Martin across the border to Pucon. Arrived at the border in time to see on a snow covered volcano at the border. Hired a Mountian Bike to ride out to Lago Caburgua (About 25km from Pucon) in the afternoon. Teed up a guide company for the volcano that after…

After the carnage of the fancy dress, our next stop was Santiago. The half way point of the trip and also where we said good bye to eight of the group and picked up nine new travellers. Before the guys left we had to have one last night out on the town. Yeap, it was a rough one. I…

The bus trip from San Martin (Argentina) to Pucon (Chile) was supposed to take 3-4hrs. I think we managed to fall on a day where all the really slow border officials were on at the same time. We arrived at Pucon after 6hrs. The funniset thing about this border crossing was that it was a rough road …

I took a very comfortable overnight bus to Pucon, didn´t think it would be because the ticket was cheap. Travelling on a Friday night was not a good idea either, the bus terminal was chaotic with everyone travelling for the weekend and there was no organisation, we didn´t even know which stand th…

Wednesday afternoon I took a bus to Pucón, best described as the Chilean Bariloche. Only difference is volcano Villarrica in the background. And for the first time since Buenos Aires the temperature is above 25 degrees again. So it feels like summer as well. Not that I am very keen on high tempera…

Today´s entry belongs solely to Noel, who ventured up the volcano that towers over Pucon (Melissa stayed in today, getting over her cold and enjoyed it immensely!).

Last December and January a true dream came true, I set of for Chili and Argentina mainly to see one of the most deserted, purest and beautiful places in the world: Patagonia. Sometimes its beauty was so overwhelming that I simply forgot to take pictures...
