The buses in Florence are well organized and cover all the city.
The tickets and bus passes can be purchased at Piazza Stazione, bars, newstands, stores. Tickets must be stamped on the machines on board. At night, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., tickets can be purchased on board of the bus. The rates are inside the city are: 1hr - 1 Eur | 3hrs - 1,8 Eur days: 1 - 4Eur | 2 - 5,70 Eur | 3 - 7,20 | weekly ticket - 12 Eur Personally I would recommend you to buy a pass depending on how long you are staying in the city. Since I didn't stay for 2 todays, I didn't got a pass. Furthermore, the city is small and you can go everywhere just walking. I just drove the bus to go from and to the station ;) Part of the Backpacking in Europe solo but not lonely :) travel blog |

I’ve tried to do a bit of ‘Lonely Planet’ revision ahead of Florence as of all the cities in Italy, excepting Rome, this is the one they tell you straight is gonna bowl you over. Principle seat of the Medici family and home of Machiavell…public transport set up in every frickin’ city I come to that I mostly drift off and on the Florentine buses without a ticket or not stamping the ones I’ve had to buy at the Youth Hostel. I get off at Piazza del Duomo… Florence : Fine culture and fatigue in Tuscany. |
