Leuven, Belgium -› -› ...
I never stayed in a Leuven hotel before, as is logical since I live here myself. But there are some locations that are very authentic due to their history or setting, and some others of which I heard really good comments by friends. So those are the places listed below. For a complete list of all accomodations, I again refer to my first blog entry, where you can find the website URL of the touristic service of Leuven.

The city of Leuven is the capital of the province of Flemish-Brabant, and perhaps best known throughout the world for its magnificent architecture, it's internationally renowned University and last but far from being least, its world famous beer. Although Leuven suffered heavily under the two World Wars it is now a very modern city with a very rich past, which charms visitors throughout the world. I had waited for a long time to visit Leuven. Many of my Belgian friends had really recommended...

February 27The guy who brought me to Leuven was quite nice, once arrived nearby the Stadspark I noticed that things had already changed since last time I was in town, new buildings, new offices and especially a new school. It's such a dynamic city!Stan was awaiting me in front of the ParkPoort Frietkot and we brought some of his stuff to his room before heading to Lubbeek, at his parents place to meet with them. It had been a really long time since I had seen them. First I met with Adriaan, t...

Round 4 of my European trips...This trip was definetly unexpected. Was on the verge of switching jobs when I decided to take myself a nice month break between jobs. Bought my ticket a week before I left and off I went. Visited so many great places, Belgium, Holland, France, Czech Republic, and my home away from home Poland. Met some unbelievable people, and just had the time of my life. Might possibly have been the best trip ever lol.

Seriously, I should have written about Ghent long time back, when the events and name of streets were still fresh in my memory. Plus, the last two months of beer drinking has started to show its side effects on my brain cells, manifesting itself in form of memory lapses of the magnitude I have not suffered from ever before. Still I will give it my best shot. As always the journey from Leuven was straight forward. This is definitely one of the good aspects of Belgium; travel time is never more...

Afternoon in Leuven
posted by:
May 31, 2007 - Jun 28, 2007
So the host family and I made a quick trip over to Leuven in Flanders for the afternoon. What a cute little town! It is was what most Americans think of when they think of when they imagine a smallish European city. Cobblestone streets, cafes all over, pigeons, old churches, a beautiful city hall, etc. It was nice. I love my host family. I could not have been put in a better place. The kids are so nice and polite and Thierry and Fabienne have been nicer to me than I could have ever imagined. ...

November 9Hitched to Leuven and walked in the city before dusk, early. Then went with Stan to stay at his parents in LubeekNovember 10Quiet day, it is grey and cold outside. By the evening we go visit a photo exhibit in Lubeek hall (lovely) before going to the annual fire of the village. That was tame though.November 11Walked on the countryside of Lubbeek to do some pictures of the autumn craze. I went to meet the neighbour of Stan who are HC members.November 12By Midday, I hitched back to Br...

The Home of Stella, and A Town Not to be Overlooked

As part of a 3-week trip to Europe, which included Barcelona, Geneva, Normandie and Amsterdam, the highlight of the trip in all respects was Belgium. From the charming towns, to the (very) old and ornate buildings, to the friendly people, beer, chocolate and waffles, no other place on this trip came close to rivaling Belgium's charm and beauty. If you're in to architechture or just strolling around gorgeous cities, Antwerpen, Leuven, Brussels and Brugge are can't misses.
