I hardly slept again. This time courtesy of 1 mosquito. I spent most of the night chasing after it, much to the annoyance of the neighbours. So, 6:30am found me in the breakfast lounge in a rather foul mood and itching all over. The one thing I forgot to pack: insect repellant. Great!I took off at 7:30am, walked east like the previous day, but now turned right on Nowy Swiat instead of left and walked down to Plac Trzech Krzyzy (try saying that 3 times in a row, or just once for that matter). ...

I mentioned a little bit in the intro, but here is the some more of the story:   This was a Belgian fortress in between Liege and Maastricht, near the Albert Canal, defending the Belgian-German border. Constructed in 1931-1935, it was reputed to be impregnable. But on 10 May 1940, 74 paratroopers of the German 7th Flieger later 1st Fallschirmjäger Division landed on the fortress with gliders. I have now been working for more than 2 years in this lovely city of Brussels. The last 9 month I had the fortune of living here full time. I have become to understand why expats dont wanna leave again. One of my goals here is to visit all large cities in Belgium and afterwards know a lot about Belgium. Living in the heart of Europe also gives me the possibility to visit many of the larger cities in the middle of Europe by car or by plane. The years I am here I will try to see a lot.

A short ride south from Eindhoven brings you into Houthalen-Helchteren in Belgium, home of Kasteel de Dool and the Ter Doolen Brewery.  Nice courtyard in front of the old castle where you can have some of the local brew.  At the time, you could go on tours of the brewery...a very modern brewery with virtually no odor of the brewing process what-so-ever.  Not sure if they still brew on premises any more...but as long as the courtyard remains, a nice diversion.

September 23 With the previous night I woke up pretty late and I started preparing but before that I worked on my computer to try to save and burn as much data out of it... That occupied most of my day.Then its only by the end of the afternoon that I finally left to the North Station to catch the train to Leopoldsburg. This was a trip to Belgium. I stayed in Masseik with a family that lived there.I toured Brussels. It was a fantastic place and would love to go back again :)
