Groningen city is the capitol of the Dutch province also called Groningen. It's the biggest city in the Northern part of the Netherlands, and the population is around 185 000 people.

The city has a large number of students, both Dutch and international, and the nightlife is way beyond expected for a city of it's size. The cultural scene is rich and vibrant.

The city has a long history. It was an important trade center in the 13th century, and the university was founded already early in the 1600. Groningen was severly damaged during WW II, but the most important buildings were left unharmed. There are loads of beautiful old builidings around that gives the city soul and charm.

Groningen is easy accessible by train from Amsterdam.
