As you arrive to the magical lagoon by canoe the first thing that hits you is the serenity. The sun was setting and everything sparkled in its natural state, the feeling of purity, harmony and life was permeating all round. Left the jungle today and was very sad to leave. My initial impression had been that the community was perhaps smaller and less traditional than I had expected, with less for the volunteers to help with as projects were not yet in development. From Quito, to Banos and then surfing on the Pacific! Ecuador uses the US $, and for less than 300 you can jump off bridges, rappel off waterfalls, learn to surf, eat like a king.....the list goes on. The most amazing trip ever!

I arrived in Ecuador having just finished volunteering in the Dominican Republic working in the National Aquarium. It had been 3 years since I had last been in South America and there was a nice feeling of returning to something familiar. In the
morning we rose early to book in some bicycles, as the girl in our group (Noah)
wanted to attempt a 60 km ride to Puyo, estimated to take 5 hours to
complete. We rented our bikes and bought
