We had our last breakfast on the boat and gave our waitor a nice tip, then to the lounge for our Frigate name to be called for the last time. Our last dinghy ride took us back to San Cristobal Island where we waited around for about an hour before going back to the airport. We walked around Puerto Ayora and what a coincidence that the last wildlife we see is the same as the first we saw 4 days ago; sea lions. We had a picture taken of the 3 of us by the dock and then went souvenir shopping fo...

Mum woke me and I took me 30 seconds to dress up I did not even brush my teeth. Mum was bummed that she could not make it. I ran to the aft of the boat to catch the last boat. I forgot my sun glasses in the cabin. I just could not forget my camera of course. I jumped on the zodiac and this time I had Freddy as the naturalist. Gosh I was a sleepy h...

Hello All,Alarm clock worked... Where are the Aleve? I stumbled out of the room to get some water in the hotel's courtyard and met the taxi driver. He had been commissioned to drive the four of us to the boat dock at 5:30am for our 6am boat the Santa Cruz. The previous night's drinking had taken it's toll on three of us, and the good money was not on us all waking up in time. The driver had apparently dealt with this situation before, and was knocking on doors to...

So, we spent the morning nursing our wounded.. Well, that only consists of Ben and I.. Ben is EXTREMELY burnt so we were quite hesitant to leave the hostel before we had to.. The sun is scorching fromm 7AM to 7pm.. Ecuador is just moving into the rainy season here in the next few weeks, so they are still in the dry, sun scorching down, no cloud in the sky season. Luckly.. the great worker Ester at our hostel noticed our big puppy dog eyes and had pity on us and gave us a leaf off the hostel´...

Well we left from Baltra airport today. It's been an amazing week - we've lived with great people, ate great food and seen amazing animals and scenery both in the water and on land.Highlights have been swimming with Sea Turtles and Sea Lions, spotting sharks and MASSIVE Manta Rays in the water as well as a whole host of birds, iguana's, lizards and yet more Sea Lions. Sea Lions are definitely my favourite - they are just so much fun to watch and also interact with in the water as they swim ...

It's hard to believe that a little more than a month has passed here in the Galapagos. I've become so spoiled with animal life and my expectations on dives or snorkeling are unmatchable. I am afraid that the Galapagos has made me into an arrogant snob about flora and fauna.
Like all good (ex)consultants, I could divide my time in the Galapagos into finite eras.

Wow I can’t believe it’s March already… crazy. I think I left off just before the canal. We spent a couple days at the marina there, I think I wrote about provisioning already, and the only other highlight was this silly dog that came by our boat every now and then named Pit. She was some sort of Jack Russell looking type and seemed to just wander around the marina at her will. I had seen her previously at night getting worked up over the fish in th...

I am now back in Puene 3 staying at Marianas. I am still suffering from an infected throat which makes me cough violently without warning. This illness has plagued me now for almost three weeks and has made life very uncomfortable at times. As usual it is pissing with rain in Quito and there are nightly thunderstorms. Apparently in May it will improve.
A few days before I returned from the Galapagos, Maria’Jose, the 13 year old daughter of Mariana, was...

We landed on San Cristobal Island, at the time the main port of entry to the Islands, as the main airport on Baltra was being renovated (now completed). Formalities were pretty quick, as the administrative stuff had been taken care of by the tour company. A quick jaunt through town by minibus brings us to the "landing;" a set of concrete steps ending in the harbor. A small fleet of Zodiac boats awaited to take people to their respective boats. Bags were, thankfully, ha...
