you should see & experience it yourself to know what it's like - Cape Town!!!!!!

In early 2007, my wife and I are travelling around the world over a six month period.

Travel blog of Toby and Nicole. The plan is: First one month in France, then we fly into Mexico City, make our way down south through the continent, hop over to Cuba along the way and fly out of Sao Paulo 11 months later.

At the end of the week, we were still without somewhere to stay on the Saturday night. We'd decided that we wanted to pace ourselves with driving, remembering the roadworks of the previous year, and overnight somewhere roughly midway to our first serious destination. That would be Heidelberg. After a couple of earlier dead ends, we decided to take the sensible approach and ask Dr Google. And so we came upon Skeiding, and happily they had room.

We took a great 4 hour drive or so around this beautiful part of Cape Town. There was so much to see, from the mountains, to the ocean to the guys selling curios along the street. I can't forget the people who were riding bikes up these steep hills almost without any effort at all. My legs, lungs and a feet all hurt just watching them. The ocean was incredible. Twee weken Kaapstad met als belangrijkste bezigheid de aanschaf van een auto. Via het internet komen we bij Drive Africa terecht, waar we een Toyota Corolla met een terugkoop garantie kopen. Verder zijn we een hoop tijd kwijt met de aanschaf van een kampeeruitrusting, maar zien op die manier ook een groot deel van Kaapstad zelf. Er zijn behoorlijk wat toeristische attracties, maar voor ons is toch een van de leukste dingen gewoon rondlopen en de sfeer proeven. Maar laat de sfeer nu juist heel...

If I did it all again, I'd... hmm! Stockpile valium, for a start...I'd been due to fly out on Sunday 24th, but my visa had yet to be issued. South Africans travelling to Oz have to fill out lengthy forms - at least a rainforest's worth of paper - and supply so much supporting documentation that you need a small army of archivists, clerks and forensic auditors to put it all together. Just some pics to remember...

Africa is just an amazing continent. I had the opportunity to stay from December 07 to January 08 traveling around South Africa, Zambia and Botswana. This blog is just about this fantastic trip that everyone in this planet should go one day.

I shipped my Land Rover Discovery to Cape Town and three months later I parked it for a while in Livingstone, Zambia. Along the way I travelled through South Africa, Leshoto, Swaziland, Namibia and Botswana.

Well I spent 3 months last year in South Africa on tour with the show Mamma Mia - 6 weeks in Cape Town and 6 weeks in Pretoria. These are my favourite pictures from this time.
