The wine routes bring back memories, and almost from the day my baby was born, 25 July 2005 she experienced some of the best the Cape has to offer. The Spier wine estate in Stellenbosch is beautiful with it's rolling lawns, and relaxing lake. The cheetas visit and the wild birds are a true bonus before being transitioned into a trult African world at the cuisine delights of Moyo. It is pricey but beyond worth the experience .. Oh yes and the wines were great too.
The proximity to the other w...

Hi All
Injuries to report....I took a chunk out of my foot with a tree stump trying to put my tent down one morning...it is healing nicely now though, also a few scratches from sandboarding.
Losses - my torch to replace the one I broke is now lost! Oh well I am not camping anymore so I won't need it anyway.
Breakages - I have a black spot (maybe sand) on one of the lenses on my camera so all my pics are going to have a black spot on them, v annoying, my shorts...

Day 25 - Start of 20 days Cape to Vic falls - 5673km
May 3, '08 9:06 PMfor everyone
Last night was the last night in Cape Town, we decided that we deserve at least one beer before we hit the road for the long journey to Victoria Falls, imbabwe.
" just one drink" Gayle promised
The night started at the Dubliner Pub just across our hostel on Long street. The band was good and I am now a fan of Windhoek beer. As always when travelling, we bumped into Jess and Richie from Steelenb...

Wekker om 06:45, 07:30 ontbijt, 08:30 vertrek. Weer heerlijk geslapen.

Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities I have been to. I did all the usual stuff; Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope, and the V&A. I stayed at the Sheraton, which is modern hotel close the waterfront. Really nice but next time I think I would stay closer to the V&A waterfront.
So, I was lazy and didn't climb Table Mountain, instead I take the cable car. Next time maybe I'll climb it, but probably not ;) We did instead climb around Cape Point.
The most thrilling experience was...

We arrived in Caeptown after 28 hours of traveling. We did see Jean-Claude VanDamme in Frankfurt airport!
Capetown is a beatiful city. We have been to all kind of attractions. We will try to post some photos when we can. The highlight so far was a complete fluke. We went to the District Six museum which is a tribute to people who lived in an area which was buldozed when the whites decided that they needed this area. As we were going in, a historical societ...

So I arrived in Cape Town around 6.30 am having not slept on the 13 hour flight from Heathrow. GREAT! Still that didn't put a dampner on my day. My guesthouse had arranged a pick up at the airport and I was having a coffee and orientation chat with Maarten (the owner) by 8.00 am. Armed with a map I headed off for the Beach Road to pick up the sightseeing bus to get me on my way. The ticket was great value at R100 and I really made the most of it by hopping on and...

The girls and I took our trip to South Africa. Flew into Johannesburg and were picked up by Viva Safari. The safari was for 4 days which included accomodations (nice), transportation (long), food(fantastic) and safari drive (AMAZING)!! Only $650 per person, well worth it.

So much to do in my home city! Here are some shots of mountain climbing and wine tasting (and sometimes both) all within two hours' drive of where I keep my guitars and baked beans (my flat in Rondebosch).
