It's a little embarassing to admit that the first time I heard of Cabilao was through a German friend, who actually succeeded in inviting me to join him to this unheard of (for me, at least) paradise island on a plan-as-you-get-there weekend holiday. Moving north we reached the town of Bilar. A forestation project to protect the landslide areas was built here in 1958. The Government, several schools and other organizations took part in the project, and the Bilar Man-Made Forest was born! It boosts of trees cultured in around 3,000 hectares of land.
