Belgium, Ardennes, 2006: Bastogne Travel Photos

For the 80th Birthday of my grand mother, we had rented a house in the Belgium Ardennes in January 2006. It's only a 3 hours drive from home but it feels realy like a holiday. This part of Belgium is quite hilly. The people here do speak French. There are very nice places to go to like Dinant, Namur and Bastogne. In the winter there might be a possibility of skiing. During the summer you can do a lot of outdoor sports like hikinh, climbing, canoeing.

Travelling around Europe for 2weeks (AMS-GER-FRANCE-BELGIUM). Exciting country for most of its medieval architecture, chateau and cultural sites which deserves protection for the benefit of all humanity. So, lets start to drive around and see some part of Europe.

Durbuy, the smallest city on earth?
posted by:
Apr 27, 2008
According to the signs, Durbuy should be the world's smallest city. Durbuy is a beautiful and small city, but to my knowledge it's not the smallest city in the world! The world's smallest city should be Bronkhorst near the river IJssel in the Dutch province of Gelderland. Bronkhorst, with it's 150 inhabitants, received it's municipal rights in 1482. However, Durbuy is a great place to spend some time, visiting all the shops in the narrow streets, lying down alongside the river Ourthe or ...

Drive to Belgium

Sep 14, 2007
Left home about 9am, heading for Dover for the 12.15 ferry to Calais. After ages of deciding whether to go to the Grand Prix, we were finally on our way! YEY :) Years and years ago, me and Dad were watching the Belgian Grand Prix on television, and at the track there is/was a chicane called the Bus Stop. It was where al the action was with frequent accidents and overtaking. We both said, that one day, we would visit the Bus Stop. So that was our mission! Quick drive to Dover, so quick we ha...

Overnight in Libramont
posted by:
Oct 05, 2006 - Jan 26, 2007
Stayed in a Best Western hotel for 112Euro a night. Poor nick was stuck on a foldout bed and we could only just fit the cot in also. Compared to the accomdation at the Pension Cascata in Saarburg... this one sucked bad. Anyhoo, we are just about desperate for a clothes wash but this little town is... well.... a little town. No laveries here. Most of the day was spent in the car and staring at fog. Saw some nice bits along the way though, heading back to France.
