holy, silent procession May 07, 2011
Every good friday of the year, in San Luis Potosi there is the silent procession. The procession has its origin in Spain. Since 1954 it is held in San Luis Potosi, which is meanwhile the most important procession of its kind in whole Mexico.

The reason of the procession is the sorrow about the dead of Jesus. I suppose that's why is held in absolut silence. The atmosphere was kind of strange to me. The people within the procession prize suffering Jesus had. Men carry huge statues of virgins on their shoulders. They are built on kind of wagons. Sometimes you see them walking barefoot and wearing chains. The different "groups" lockstep and they wear traditional clothing. For example, women wear the famous rebozos. All in all it's impressive to see the procession.

Yes it is very impressive indeed. I have seen the one in Zacatecas, but I think this one is far larger.
