Lucky prince - to live here and have artistic talent Sep 05, 2010
You can get a passenger ferry from the Old Town to the peninsula of Djurgården. Ignoring the Vasa Museum (separately reviewed) to your left, turn right. Your road shortly takes a near right-angled turn left, following the line of the waterfront. The Walldemarsudde overlooks the sea over a splendid garden from this corner.

I am not particularly into princes and I am no art critic - but there can have been few princes with so much artistic talent. I am not rating him as the equal of Pisarrot or Monet - but you can be pretty hot without that.

According to Wikipedia, he first stayed here in 1892 and bought it soon after. He lived there until his death in 1947, after which the building and his works and collections were left to the state in his will.

He was an avid collector and well as many of his own works you can see a terrific colectin of Scandinavian paintings from the turn of last century.
