Preparation for working holiday
Preparation for working holiday Reviews
Be organised! Apr 11, 2011
I am planning on travelling to New Zealand for 7 months from September. ^months of that will be spent working full time as a nurse.
For anyone planning on doing something simila i recommend you start getting organised at least 6 months in advance.
For starters you'll need to sit an English test, costing £110 which isn't as much of a breeze as you might imagine. There can also be waiting lists for places for a month or more. Then you'll need to apply for registration with the nursing council of new zealand (£250). However in order to apply you'll need:
English test certificate
police certificate (takes about 10 days, £35)
registration certificate (£35)
2 professional references
1 character reference
an employment letter stating the hours you've worked in the last 3 years
transcript of your training from university/college (£20)
After you've finally managed to get all this info and send it for registration (whch will take 30-40 days) you then need to apply for a working holiday visa (takes upto 4 weeks)
Then you need to get a job, accomodation and book flights!
All in all, there is much more to do than initially anticipated with fees thrown at you left right and centre! Get it right and start early!
