Overgrown but stunning Mar 24, 2010
Preah Khan was built in the twelfth century under the rule of King Jayavarman VII. It’s fairly near Angkor Thom and reminds me a lot of Ta Prohm (aka Angelina Jolie temple) as the trees and greenery that have enveloped the temple structure is pretty amazing and shows just how forgotten these temples once were. These days, the temple is rather large and sturdy enough to support a huge influx of visitors and the trees and vegetation are quite imposing but don’t make you feel that you’ve lost yourself in the jungle. In certain places, there are times when you just think there’s too much stone rubble here. But the temple is rather special and worth making a quick visit too for sure.
