I noticed this place the last time I was in Prague. I thought I'd write about it this time. Hostinec U Mateje Kotrby is just around the corner of my favorite place to stay in Prague, Residence Cerna. A comfortable, quiet, even romantic environment. It has a nice bar and beer garden with a fountain o…

Expats tend to flock here for three reasons- location, food and football. The beer is cheap enough (especially for the area), the food is good and they show football (and other sports). They also have an outdoor garden, and free wireless internet. They serve a wide array of food, including Czech …

A small local spot frequented by locals rather than the common tourist makes this place one of the greatest finds in Prague! Sporting events played continuously on the TV as locals gathered to have beer and to enjoy the amazing food set out before them.
After ordering food, a clear glass filled …

I had dinner one night at KAMPA PARK in Mala Strana. I LOVE this place. The view of Charles Bridge was just stunning! The service was excellent. The staff spoke English and were very friendly and helpful. Lastly, the food was GREAT! I tried the lobster tail and the tuna sushi for the appetizer, pear…

This fantastic Art Nouveau café at the municipal house has a beautiful interior and seems to be a very popular spot, mostly with tourists, although there also seemed to be plenty of locals in the place.
This is worth a visit, if only to see the interior. A little pricey, but a nice place to s…

After spending the morning and most of the afternoon on a walking tour of Prague, we were ready for lunch. Our tour ended very close to this restaurant and our guide recommended this place as a good place to try some Czech dishes. We were a block or two away, an easy walk.
It was crowded when we …

This restaurant has some good dark Czech beer and some very tasty Thai food. You would swear a Thai person was cooking it.

We decided to check out this restaurant because it was so close to our hotel. The concierge recommended it because of proximity and convenience.
I've read in different places that it is geared towards tourists, although there was only one other couple that was noticeably not from the Czech Repu…

We stumbled upon Plzeňská restaurace while exploring the Municipal House in Prague. We fell in love with it right away. The restaurant had a nice Czech feel to it, a large old hall with art paintings on the walls and chandeliers. There were even musicians playing traditional Czech music all night.…

Very close to Staromestake Nam at the corner of Parizská and Cervena Restaurant Pravda is situated. The restaurant is a great place to get a very good diner in Prague.
The interior is stylish without being too much; there is a clean touch to the design without moving away from the cosines. The …

It tempted us everyday as we walked past its doors. Desserts of all kinds lined the glass case. My favorite was a brown slice of cake which had a dusting of nutmeg and cinnamin on the top. Cream layered cake lay beneath the spices. It was one of my favorite desserts of the trip!
Inside the baker…

Down in the cellar of a house on the corner of Skolska and Vodickova, away from the touristy Wenceslas Square, is a little gem of a restaurant. The setting is medieval, as you've got your armours sitting and standing around and some drunk knight left his sword in an alcove, probably after a couple o…

I went to U Sadu Restaurace and Bar last night. It is not too far from my place. Upstairs you can eat and just hang out... but then you can also go down stairs. And if you can survive the climb down the tiny and narrow spiral staircase, then I suggest it. Yes, it was a little hazy when I walked …
