A Charming Place in Middle of Madrid May 08, 2007
Hotel Praga was located in Madrid Spain at Antonio Lopez 65.
I stayed at this hotel as part of a tour of Madrid with Contiki in 2007. On arrival it looked like a good place to stay as the lobby was nice and big and classy. The room I stayed in was fit for a king, it was really clean and lots of space to move around in. The water in the sink and shower was clean and had lots of good hot water. As well, the toilet flushed very well at every attempt, very good. The room was a journey from elevator to my room, as it was almost like a maze in that hallway. Overall it was still a nice and quiet room. The banquet room where we ate dinner was totally awesome, it was an all you can eat buffet with everything you could imagine and expect in a buffet. The location of the hotel was good. The hotel is located in a local commercial area, with plenty of local shops surrounding it. There was a supermarket a couple of doors away, and plenty of local restaurants very close by. Take a number 23 bus outside the front door for 1 euro to get into the Plaza Mayo in about 15 - 20 minutes. It was a nice hotel overall, I would stay here again and recommend travbuddies to stay here as well. If you plan on coming here, let me know and we could compare notes. Hotel Praga Madrid Sep 02, 2008
My overall stay in this hotel was pleasant, although I was a bit surprised at how small the room was. However, the bathroom was very nice and I could even climb out on to the terrace. As far as hotels in Madrid go, Hotel Praga is about as a good a deal as one can find without having to stay in a hostel. The room was small, yes, but it was very clean and the staff were very polite. It was very reasonably priced at around 90 euros I night whereas many hotels can cost around 300 euros a night if you book last minute as I did. As for the location, phenomenal. It is just a short walking distance away from the metro as is itself not incredibly far from the center. I have paid more to stay in much nicer hotels, however they ended up being much further away from the center and at an impossible walking distance.
