Prades Vacation Guide
Situated on foot of the omni-present mount Canigou, Prades is a lovely French Catalan village. Highlight of the town is the huge retable in the church of Saint-Pierre. Just south of the village is the Benedictine monastery of Saint-Michel-Cuxa, a part of it was moved to New York to the Cloisters.

Prades is a good spot to use as base camp for exploring the south east part of the Languedoc/Rousillon area. It is situated halfway Perpignan and Andorra; you can go up north to the Corbières Cathar region or south into the Pyrenees. I rented a gite at the Villa Lafabrègue (see review).
