Praça da República is the large triangular park in the middle of the old Belem, close to the port and markets. Our hostel was close to the park so we were going through the park every day. It has nicely lined up threes and large walking alley where lots of people take their kids and stroll around. Two theaters are nested in the park, in the old brick buildings, but I did not go to see any plays. Over the weekend there is usually some kind of market with lots of stalls with very creative art pieces. I simply love fruit juices that you can find everywhere, and options are totally new and different for people that don’t live in Brazil. Most of the corners feature nut-crackers that have large carts filled with Brazilian nuts, and they clean them in the front of you. Park is very open and not that clean. During the night you can find few food stalls/trucks parked around it.
Interesting stall with old school …
