Awesome hangout! Apr 14, 2009
This is a new thing in the downtown area. It has the vibe as if you are in a movie! With free outdoor concerts and bars that surround you, you are bound to have a good time. Each bar has a unique theme to it. This whole area has really built up. YOU HAVE to check out this area if you come into town. Read more about it at www.powerandlightdistrict.com

Best nightlife spot in KC Jun 06, 2008
This district is so nicely done and such a great attraction for Kansas City.

Situated over 9 square blocks with one side bordered by the Sprint Center and is defined by LED blue lights in all the trees within the area. This district is comprised of bars are all varieties (sports, country theme, Irish, dueling pianos, tattoo, etc.), restaurants to handle any craving, and an outdoor stage with free live music almost every night. It is free to enter into the area but, of course, dining and drinks are paid at each bar/restaurant.

The security here is pretty tight so if you have an expired drivers license no matter what your age is, or if you left it in the car, forget about getting in. Also, baggy pants and gang colors are not allowed in either.

If you dine here expect to pay $25 and up for an entree', however, if you just go for the adult beverages you don't have to spend a fortune here and it is a wonderful place to spend your afternoon and late into the night.

I have been here a few times now and have enjoyed a variety of events from live bands, to single musicians/singers, to a food chef's cookoff.

Oh, and go try the mechanical bull riding at Big Sky, it's hilarious!
