Powder Tower Prague Reviews
A climb through the Middle Ages Mar 31, 2010
Centuries ago, the Powder Tower was a gate to Prague, used by the future kings of Bohemia to enter the town when they were on their coronation parade. It was build in 1475 and together with the Old Town Bridge Tower, it’s the only remaining part of the old fortifications.
Next to admiring it’s beautiful exterior, you can also go inside and climb the steep and narrow steps to reach the second floor, where you can buy admission tickets. This floor and the other levels have an exhibition on Jan Hus, an important historical person in Prague’s history. Next to that, the medieval atmosphere that still exists within the tower, make this a sight worth visiting.
From the roof you also have an excellent view of the Old Town.
