Pousada Castelo Obidos Reviews
A coffee break! Mar 21, 1999
The Pousada at Obidos could equally validly be reviewed as a hotel or a sight but as my friend and I only had a coffee there as an excuse for going in (acceptable both in Portuguese pousadas and Spanish Paradors) I am calling it a restaurant.
Obidos is very accessible from Lisbon and 'enjoys' a whole lot of tourism. This is hardly surprising as its walls are continuous, though earthquake damaged in places.
The Pousada is at the top of the town, quite unmissable. From the 13th century until the end of the monarchy Obidos was given by the King to his bride and thus it hardly comes as a surprise that a palace was added to the older castle.
The building is surrounded by luscious vegetation.
The coffee? - average!
