Good way to see the monuments Apr 01, 2007
The Potomac Riverboat tour and the water taxi are worth the money and your time. If you are in Oldtown Alexandria and you want to do more then window shopping or sit in one of the numerous restaurants then check out the boat ride.

The water taxi will take you to Georgetown in a little over an hour which also gives you the opportunity to see the monuments from the boat along the way. To me it's the best way to get to Georgetown. If you know D.C., you also know that there are no close Metro stops in the Georgetown area and parking is a pain. I'm not even mentioning the horrible traffic. ;)

I took my mum and aunt on this trip and they enjoyed it a lot. You'll see Reagan National Airport, the Pentagon, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and much more along the way. Once you arrive in Georgetown you can explore this part of D.C. or go to one of the restaurants or the ice cream shop at the boat landing.

The boats take off from both landings a couple of times a day. Go online to check out their times according to your time of visit.

You can also find coupons for the ride on the website prior to your visit!

We enjoyed our night time Washington Monuments cruise of the Potomac aboard the Matthew Hayes. It was a great way to spend 90 minutes. The one thing that would have made it better is if they served dinner on the boat. They did have popcorn, soda, and beer you could purchase (with cash).

They also have a canine cruise on Thursday nights that we would have tried, if we had been in the area on Thursday.
