unreasonable entrance fee Apr 17, 2010
Went to zambales last april 17 to celebrate a friend's birthday. our first plan was to stay in cabangan where another friend of mine has a private resthouse infront of a beach... but since someone invited us to visit potipot island and told us that we are only going to pay the boat rental which is Php 400/good for 6 persons, we decided to go. But when we reach potipot island (after the 5 - 10 min boat ride from dawal beach resort ) a man came to us and asking us to pay 100/head as an entrance fee... We are shocked coz aside from the boat rental, we are required to pay for the entrance fee which is VERY UNREASONABLE!!! The 400 boat rental was in a way expensive knowing that they will only transfer you from dawal to potipot (imagine 5 to 10min ride only), then they will ask for 100/head entrance fee (take note day swimming only, for overnight 150/pax plus bring your own tent-no cottages there). other than that they will not give any receipt for the payment... LOCAL GOVERNMENT must be aware of this. So if you are planning to visit Potipot island? i am saying to you, PhP 100 is not worth it...

zambales tourism authority should do something about this. rates are extremely high for an overnight stay in potipot.
