Portuguese Manor Restaurant Perth Amboy Reviews
Affordable food Feb 02, 2012
I went to celebrates a friend birthday here back in October. I love Portuguese food, but I'm limited to what I can eat since I'm allergic to shrimp, shell fish, etc. When you first walk in it's a bar with a couple of tables nothing fancy, depending on the time you get in you might have to maneuver through the crowd of dancing people. Once you get passed the bar the restaurant area is in the back.
The dining area is very tight but not to the point that you are rubbing elbows with the table next to you. It was about 20 of us so we had a large table on the corner. We immediately started off with 4 pitchers of Sangria. They served us complimentary salad and bread, the bread was just made fresh. The sangria was very good, I also had a couple of beers and a Pina Colada. A while after we placed our orders, I ordered Frango em Molho de Limao e vino blanco. When the waiter came back with our food I gasped at the size of the plates. The food portion was big and the food was delicious. The chicken melted in my mouth and the rice was perfect.
Overall it's a good place to eat. Nothing fancy, just great food at affordable prices. If you don't have a big appetite you might want to share your entree with someone, since they can serve two. Did I mention they have valet parking, so no need to worry about finding parking. I do recommend you make a reservation before going the place is very popular so it's always busy.
