Portofino is Heaven. haha first time i arrived there, my mouth was hanging open.. the landscape was amazing.  The hills were green with trees and there are dots of color where tops of houses pop out... the streets are cobbled and lined with brightly colored shops.  the ocean was spectacular! and bluey green color... with slight changes in hue depending on the depth.. it was crystal clear.. and refreshingly cool which was great because of the summer heat.  when we arrived i deci...

Great walk, Santa Margherita to Portofino.: Portofino Travel Photos

For me the most amazing thing about this part of the Italian Riviera are the fantastic homes clinging to the hillside overlooking the Mediteranean. The whole area smells like money, and lots of it. The beaches are terrible, no sand just pebbles and rocks, and the water is freezing. A terrific experience for me was walking 9 kilometres from Santa Margherita to Portofino, enjoying a wonderful lunch beside the beautiful harbour then taking the lazy option and catching the ferry back.

Better get a bike or walk! ;-) We walked around the town and had a look in a few shops - really nice and a lot of nik nak to buy. Later o...
