From February 23 till March 5, 2006 I went on a school trip. We visited Portugal, Spain, and Tenerife. The trip was a cultural experience that I will never forget, and I would never want to.

Me and my two friends spent awsome time in Portugal, we've met so many wondreful people and i really fall in love with Lisbon;)), but the Atlantic ocean was so freeeezing..For such a small country, you have many options from which to choose. A San Francisco-esque city, spreading over seven hills which descend into the Rio Tejo-Lisbon is perhaps Europe’s most pleasant and affordable city. Seafood is particularly impressive and you must try a glass of port wine too.

OUr next meeting was in Porto, the second largest city in Portugal. The metropolitan area has a little over one million people. One of the major exports from this area is Port Wine, which takes it's name from the city. The city has historical ties to England and many of the port producing companies have English names -- Warres, Taylor's, Sandemann, etc.
After our meeting, we checked into the Hotel Infante de Sagres. The hotel is near the Rio Duoro (River of Gol...

Unfortunately we didn't get a good nights sleep due to a couple of girls that were in our room talking quite loudly during the night and then getting up early and making a racket - but that's what you come to expect in a hostel. We tucked into the small breakfast that was provided before sorting ourselves out and then heading out the door. Just near to the hostel on one of the tiny back streets we came across a small cafe run by a lovely Indian lady. We stopped in to get som...

After breakfast we spoke with the attendant at the hotel’s front desk, we needed to do some shopping and wanted to see more than high street outlets where things sold in London are sold for London prices. We were told to catch a train (from the main station in the old town, just around the corner) to a nearby town called Espinho which has a big market every Monday. Big market, bloody hell, it was huge!! A long, beat-up, old car park full of stalls that just kept going and going. Lots of loc...

Actually, Mercedes arrived around noon and found our hostel and then went to the beach to wait for my arrival. I arrived around 22 o`clock and took a metro, Mercedes was waiting for me at the metro station. It was really great to see her! We only meet once a year....
The Black and White hostel in Porto was not so black and white:) and the room of 8 where we were supposed to be, was instead the room of 10! And the staff was not friendly at all... We changed and went out to eat and drink near ...

May trip to Portugal was incredible. I saw so much in such a short period of time.
I must have walked over 15 miles in two days just exploring the city and all it has to offer. Mostly it was Catholic churches, since they are a devoutly Catholic nation. The architecture is superb there. My favorite was the Cathedral built in the 12th century. I just wish I could have stayed longer, to explore the areas that I didn't have the time to check out. They even had an Industrial club that opperates ...
