We had traveled from Seattle to Portland last evening and awoke this morning refreshed and ready to go on a full day of waterfall hunting. Not that is really a hunt when you know that the Columbia River Gorge is only a few miles away and it has many super falls.
The day began well with a nice breakfast at the hotel’s breakfast room. Waffles, scrambled eggs, sausages, bananas, apples, muffins, toast, cereal, several kinds of juice, and of course the high-octane quicker …

(the title of this journal review comes from one of my favourite songs - Reba Mcentire - Fancy, me and Marty always play it really loud and sing along when im in Portland and we played it on the way to the airport to San Diego) I arrived in Portland back from Puerto Vallarta the evening before around midnight, i managed to get a good sleep and my friend's mum dropped me off back at PDX around 2ish, we'd stopped for lunch at a Chinese restaurant before we got to the airport, my stomach w…

To celebrate
much good news, we spent last weekend in Oregon.
We started by catching the train Friday night from Seattle
to Portland,
with a long delay due to a fallen tree on the tracks. We pulled into the city
at Union Station, which was opened on Valetine's Day 1896, and is the oldest
continually operating train station in the US, still with the original
hand-wound clocks.
Portland was
incorporated in 1851, after being founded by Lovejoy and Pettygrove. They
actually flipped a …

I always hate leaving my sister it's strange because when we live close to each other we rarely see on another and when we live together we want to kill each other but when she moves away I hate it. Strange how that works.

What can be said bout the Portland Tree Lighting? A few years back I had stumbled up the Portland Tree Lighting quite by accident. A friend of mine was visiting Portland with me around the holidays a few years back and we had met up with my friend Angie to show him the sites of Portland, Oregon. Without knowing it, we showed him the Tree Lighting instead. This happens to me a lot apparently; I also stumbled upon the Rockefeller Tree Lighting a few years…

I got up around 8:30 and realized that the hotel stopped the free breakfast service at 9am!! Ant and I hauled butt, dressed up and went downstairs to get scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes and OJ. We brought it back to our room and ate there. The breakfast was ok, at least it was free.
After we ate, we went to McDonalds in front of the hotel to get some Iced Coffee. We saw that advertised at every McD's we passed so we figured we get some. …

So, its been an exciting few days! Thursday we tried to rent a car as we wanted to drive down the coast and check out a few places on the way. We visited three different places and got quotes for picking up the car in Portland and dropping it off in San Fran three days later. We decided to go with Budget, it was just shy of three hundred and fifty dollars for the three days, on top of which we would have to factor in food and accomodation costs. We rang up to book the car and found…

My parents own a boat on the Willamette River which runs through the city of Portland, dividing East from West. Their boat is docked right by where the Portland Blues Festival is set-up. This means four days of great music, great friends/family and great food. It's one of the best times to come out! We BBQ'd almost everyday and it was just awesome. It was muggy at first (I think due to that smoke warning) and then it gradually got nicer. By the last day it …

Well I am finally back from my trek around the country and what a trip
it was! And oh the things I have seen! And here comes the awards
ceremony:Longest drive: Across North Dakota. Now,
you may be saying "wait a minute, Elizabeth, Montana is bigger than
ND." Yes, it is, but ND is so straight and boring that it's irritating
and annoying. Longest five hours of my life....and I can't get those
back...Think of the things you could do in five hours: play a round of

Portland Rocks. Not only was the eternal and infernal optimism of LP vindicated this time, we´d heard it from a lot of people in Seattle too. so, naturally, we´d built up high expectations. As it turns out, deciding how much time to spend in a place based on its size isn´t always the best ploy and it would have been nice to have had less time in Seattle and more time in Portland. Cést la vie.
The wonders of travel by Greyhound introduced us on thursday to a woefully understaffe…
