Old School Bill, Philly Nic & OSB'S Man Bag Mar 07, 2008
Thursday lunch with Philly Nic at Portales , Gibsonton’s #1 & only Mexican Restaurant/ Supermarket. Located in the mega mall next to Dollar General , 4 doors north of the Post Office that used to have the dwarf counter. Everything I have tried has been exceptional & there is not much left on the extensive menu that has not been enjoyed by OSB or OSB’S Man Bag. As the Restaurant & Supermarket are separated only by a walkthrough, everything is always fresh. They make their own chips & Jarritos-pineapple, fruit punch, tamurindo, mandarain, Limon, sangria, sidral, & Agua mineral.
This is what the trio had this day; once again we were all members of the clean plate club Appetizer Super Nachos-Fresh made in the back corn tortilla chips with beans, melted white cheese, guacamole, tomatoes, sour cream & jalapeno peppers. For Uno dollar add chicken, steak or picadillo-(ground beef) is now a very large meal or appetizers for 3 to 4 people or 2 people & 1 Man Bag. Philly Nic-Caldo de Mariscos-A special soup of shrimp, fish, octopus, black mussels, oysters, potatoes, carrots with rice & saltine crackers. Was it good? Philly Nic (Mega Mouth of North Philly) was silenced by this great soup! Man Bag-Quesadilla Sincronizada-A flour tortilla filled with Mexican chorizo, cheese, tomatoes, peppers & onion. Served with beans, rice & salad. Old School Bill-La Especialidad de la Casa-Jalapeno peppers, onions, Mexican chorizo, served with beef or chicken (both if you ask nice) yellow rice my choice, flour tortillas, corn are also available. Dessert-Flan-Home made vanilla custard with melted brown sugar topping. Sopapillas-Deep fried crispy flour tortilla topped with honey & cinnamon. Only two desserts Man Bag was asleep when dessert was ordered, we let him sleep while we walked around Portales SuperMarket. I was way to full to think of any food of any type for the rest of the day or 2 hours whichever comes first. Nic did buy some frozen octopus to take home. We all waddled out to the car, HAPPY Moaning Life Time Members of the Clean Plate Club. |
