Be Prepared for Chaos Feb 03, 2011
I was not prepared for the chaos of what is the port of Nassau. In order to enter the city, after leaving the ship, you must walk through a welcome center/marketplace. Upon leaving this, you are welcomed -- practically bombarded -- with taxidrivers wanting to take you to Atlantis or women wanting to braid your hair (even if your hair is already braided, like ours was) and even guys asking if you need a Bahamian boyfriend.. They are all friendly, it's just a little overwhelming. The same requests are made even when you are going back through to get back to the ship.

I just want to remind you that your ship's ID card AND a photo ID are required to enter the pier area.

The welcome center desk has very friendly Bahamians working and they are more than willing to give suggestions for extra tours and excursions. The marketplace has the same souvenirs you can find anywher, but we did buy t-shirts with the official travel the Bahamas logo.
