Port area of Leticia Nov 10, 2013
Port area of Leticia is where you can experience the real life of Amazonas. Many small boats arrive with fruit or other goods trying to make trade in the big city. Large floats of Balsa wood bring bananas and families that are selling this wood usually used to support floating houses. Leticia is still one of the main ports for tropical fish and also drugs… Large markets sprawl on all roads that are leading uphill from the port. They cover everything from electronics, over the clothing to fruits. There are only smaller boats landing in this port, most of the larger boats come to Santa Rita on Peru side or Tabatinga on Brazilian side. Boarders don’t exist until you decide to venture out of the tree city parameters so you can easily move between ports.
