Port Douglas Overview

Port Douglas is a beautiful place, one of the nicest towns in Australia. There are lovely beaches close at hand with good swimming. Many interesting cafes and bars are on the main street where good food and drink and entertainment can be enjoyed. The climate is perfect - tropically hot.
If you travel out to sea you immediatly reach the great Barrier Reef. If you travel north you will reach a rainforest this is a 'MUST' to see! It is so great!

The main industry in Port Douglas is predictably tourism and the town has a laid-back feel to it which encourage many city dwellers to purchase holiday homes in the area. Located around an hour north of Cairns on the Captain Cook Highway, the drive between the cities is one of the most spectacular coastal drives in the country.

Port Douglas is also used as a base for those wishing to explore the outter reef or head up into the Daintree Rainforest.
