Today we left the hotel at 9am to go to Low Isles, the closest island to Port Douglas where you can experience the beautiful Great Barrier Reef, located only 13 kilometres away. Port Douglas is a lovely tropical boutique town about 1 hours drive north of Cairns via a spectacular coastal road.  Port has lovely beaches, boutique shops, restaurants and is closer to the Great Barrier Reef than Cairns!  We spent 3 days here and while in Port we spent a fantastic day diving out on the reef with Poseidon Adventures.  We spent another day at the nearby Mossman Gorge a gorgeous fresh water gorge set in the rainforest and a great place to swim.

This has to be one of the nicest areas in Australia to live.........The surroundings are world-class. The Daintree rainforest and Cape Tribulation to the North, Cairns and Palm Cove to the South , The Great Barrier Reef out to the East and The Atherton tablelands to the West.Port Douglas has so much to offer you would be hard-pressed to do everything in a month!!Apart from the number of activities avaliable is the sheer beauty of the area and the friendliness of the local people.
