Well, the last Day in PD. Had a few things to do that involved getting from A to B, so invested in another bike hire. Had a swim off 4 mile beach and a bite to eat and then did a few necessaries.
Had decided on a quiet day but had a hankering to visit the reef again, so set off to see if there was some outfit who would get me there and back without it taking too long. Found Reef Sprinter. 20 mins there, 20 back and 90 mins snorkeling on the reef. Just what I needed, so booked a trip fo…

Today we left the hotel at 9am to go to Low Isles, the closest island to Port Douglas where you can experience the beautiful Great Barrier Reef, located only 13 kilometres away. While walking to the Marina we met Jay and Banita again with their daughter Sunday, they were to spend the day on the 4 Mile beach.
We got to the marina at 9am and got our tickets at the QuickSilver's ticket centre. They are the largest company to take people out to the reef. The boat was by far the largest on the ma…

Port Douglas to Atherton.
When we booked into Pandanus Caravan Park for the second time, we were greeted like friends, the lady behind the counter handed me a leaflet from a local Bistro, Port O’Call, with a voucher to buy two meals for the price of one. Sounded like a great deal so when dinnertime came along we went to check it out. Looked really good so we ordered some Coral Trout for us both, and, yes, we were only charged for one meal, apparently the owners are Chinese, (there is a hug…

Port Douglas is a lovely tropical boutique town about 1 hours drive north of Cairns via a spectacular coastal road. Port has lovely beaches, boutique shops, restaurants and is closer to the Great Barrier Reef than Cairns! We spent 3 days here and while in Port we spent a fantastic day diving out on the reef with Poseidon Adventures. We spent another day at the nearby Mossman Gorge a gorgeous fresh water gorge set in the rainforest and a great place to swim.

Australia III - This time we started in Brisbane, took a flight up North to Darwin, went on a 4day Kakadu Nat Park 4WD Tour, took another flight to Cairns and from there we rented a camper to travel back down South to Brisbane. Will we ever make it.?

Beautiful Beaches
Crystal clear water.
Laid back, casual, quiet peaceful, friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Great nightlife and restaurants.
So many things to see and do such as the Great Barrier Reef, Port Douglas, Daintree Rainforest, Kuranda and Cairns.
Diving and camping on the beach was my favourite.
I want to go back!!!

Stopped off at Port Douglas for a walk along 4-mile beach and for a drink. Was a nice beach, the water was warm and it was quite busy despite the stinger warning signs. Nice little place but lots of flash resorts and money.
