Today saw us start our journey into Victoria and toward the Great
Ocean Road. As we crossed the border we encountered many more pine
trees and a slower speed limit, only 100 Kilometres on this road. At
first this road wasn’t very interesting, although we did find and
electronics store with an appropriate replacement cord for Reagan’s DVD
player and even better, the local Target store at Warrnambool(which is
where we got the DVD player from and they couldn’t provide a
replacement …

The Great Ocean Road is one of the most spectacular drives in the world. The start of the Great Ocean road in an hour and a half drive South/West of Melbourne Australia.

Only a few kilometres after we left Mount Gambier we got to the South Australia-Victoria border. We weren’t doing a huge amount of kilometres today as we were driving along the Great Ocean Road and we wanted to take our time. Well, as it turned out during the first part of the trip we couldn’t even see the ocean. Not until the last 20 k’s or so did the scenery get really spectacular, and then it got so spectacular it took us ages to finally get to Port Campbell.
The first stop we made…

600km return. The driver we had was pretty good, but not as talkative as the driver yesterday. Very rushed and not as photo stops as I’ld like. There were a few town/ food stops, but you never had much time for taking pictures. I would almost recommend others to doing the stretch by yourself if possible - it would have to depend on the price and how much you like driving though.
The first stop today was at Geelong at the Aboriginal Cultural centre. A o…

Merry Christmas all!
It doesn't exactly feel like it here, I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off the last few days trying to get everything done for work first and now for my trip.
The last 3 days I've been driving along the Great Ocean road with Louise, Nicola and Angel. We had an awesome time! Friday we left Melbourne a bit later than expected but got on the road about 2pm with the Christmas CD cranked to the max. We did pretty much a carb…

We drove via Warnambool (apparently a sister city of Tokyo - they both like Ford, apparently) and commenced the last leg of our journey along the Great Ocean Road. The Twelve Apostles were on the way, and none of us had actually seen them, so it was awesome to stop here along the way.
It was just so different to the northern territory. I had to pull out my wind jacket! There was that exciting breeze that you get only by the sea, and the sun was shining, though it was sort of half overcast an…

a map and some photos of my slightly unplanned trip around the world. The map outlines the general route I took, not counting the backtracking and double visits.
Currently I am scanning some photos of this trip, but be patient, there are a lot of them!
Argentina - Chile - Easter Island - French Polynesia - New Zealand - Australia - Bali - Hong Kong - Macau - Singapore

Doing the the Great Ocean Road in a day from Melbourne is a bit of a challenge due to the distance involved. So if you don;t mind being on a bus for 14 hours its possible, in fact it was a great tour and i was glad I did the Great ocean Road instead of going to Phillip Island to see the penguins. I really liked the coast line of Victoria its touristy but not in the OTT way the Gold Coast is.
