Port Adelaide River
Port Adelaide River Reviews
Great day out Sep 07, 2008
If you go to the Port Dock at Port Adelaide on a weekend there are markets in the large shed. There is also a museum which includes the Lighthouse.
There are hotels there that you can have lunch or a drink at or you could go on one of the Port river cruises. Sometimes they have dinner cruises too. They are great value. At least 1 and half hour cruise for lunch and a good chance of seeing dolphins, and a few hour cruise for dinner. There is a volunteer group keeping an eye on, and keeping records of the Port River Dolphins. There is also the local rowing club that is regularly out on the river. There are also mangroves in the area and you can do a tour of those, in a canoe. You can see the cargo ships and the submarines. There are now also new bridges across the river. Although the river cruisers can go under with out any problems, the larger ships need to notify the authorities so that the bridge can be opened. However there is a TV screen that will have a notice on it if any of the boats are not to go under the bridge. One of the bridges has a train line. Part of the Adelaide travel blog |
