Polynesian Beach Club Hostel Waikiki Reviews

The Polynesian... a perfect place to stay in Hawaii. May 08, 2010
The Polynesian Beach Club Hostel is located in the heart of Waikiki, HI. It’s one of three hostels on Lemon Road which is only one block from the beach. But out of those three, a number of people say that the Polynesian Beach Club is the best.

One big difference between Polynesian and the other hostels is that Polynesian is known as a “travelers-only hostel.” What that means is that there are no locals who stay there. You need an out-of-state I.D. And most importantly, you’ve got to provide confirmation of a purchased plane ticket leaving the state. This insures that all the guests have the same thing in common and you don’t have to worry about local residents taking advantage of you. Even the staff is from places other than the state of Hawaii.

The rates at the Polynesian are very reasonable, cheaper than most other hostels in the area. You have a choice of a 4-bed dorm or a 6-bed dorm. Semi-private rooms and studios are also available. They have staff that comes around each morning to sweep and mop the dorms and clean the bathrooms. Wi-fi is available throughout the building. Computers are also available in the office for those who don’t have laptops. If you do have a laptop, you can feel safe by leaving it behind the front counter when you leave for the day. There’s plenty of beach toys available free of charge, and surfboards available for rent.

Polynesian is the best place to stay if you want to experience the Waikiki area. Most everything is within walking distance. The beach is only a block away. There are lots of shops, restaurants, and supermarkets nearby too. If you do feel the need to take the bus somewhere else on the island, they run pretty regularly and there’s a number of bus stops close-by too. Also, there are a few places that rent mopeds and cars if you want your own transportation.

If you’ve stayed at the Polynesian recently and have something to add, feel free to post your comments here.
