Polonia Hotel Krakow Reviews
Great hotel, but don't get a room at the front Aug 01, 2014
Hotel Polonia is great for that old world charm of last-century’s hotels. It is conveniently close to the main train station of Krakow and around the edge of the old town. The hotel is housed in a monumental building on the corner of some main streets, and also inside, the hotel looks regal. There is good service from the staff who clearly take some pride to work in an old and respected hotel.
The one main drawback of the hotel is that it is located at the corner of a very busy road with cars and trams going by all day and night. In fact I found it almost impossible to get some sleep. My room was hot as an oven, and light from street lamps was beaming into the room, and the room was shaking from trams going by, and there was just a lot of noise from traffic. It turned out that in the bathroom, things were darker, cooler and more quiet, so I ravaged my mattress and blankets and slept on the floor of the bathroom instead. The bathroom itself wasn’t big enough though so I couldn’t close the door, but it was still an improvement over the main room.
Other than that everything is fine. Breakfast is quite special really. Instead of the usual fare, there are handcrafted little bites with egg. The younger staff speaks excellent English. It is just that if you can stand the light and noise and heat it is a great place with a lot of charm.
