Poitou-Charentes is one of the most pleasant, if not the most famous or glitzy, regions in France. It's on the West coast and has many local attractions.

These range from Les Trois Iles, the internal canals of the marais poitevein, the beautiful port town of La Rochelle, Futuroscope in Poitiers, Zoo de la Palmyre in Royan, the home of Cognac and of course, pleasant beaches.

The weather is hospitable most of the year round and generally 25-30 degrees celsius on a good day in the Summer.

All time champ Town of Nowhere
posted by:

Vitre takes the prize for being the little town of nowhere of all time!  RB warned me that there’s nothing there but...!  It has a château that is nothing but stone walls.  The town has 2 churches and maybe 15 shops and 5 restaurants, and sleazy local who yells “are you ready to rock?” to tourists.  Anyway, on the positive side, the food is cheap and the public toilet is free.  After all these small towns, I’m ready to go back to the city!!!

Hi everyone. Sorry about the delay in updating our blog. Been away from the internet for a while. Will upload some photos in the next few days. Until then just chat. We started the day by vistiting Mont-St-Michel. It is fantastic. A huge abbey, church and town set out off teh coast of Brittany on a rock. It was great walking up all the stairs and looking around. Google it to see how magnificent it actually looks. Was fun for Cam to carry Ashley around all day as well. From here we hit t...

i arrived on time into poitiers and was amazed at the french transport system-clean, on time nothing like at home. my dad, mam and oliver came to pick me up and we headed off to le carlet which is around a 40 mins drive.  it was nice to see 'presh' again after 5 weeks.  i had 5 weeks of torment to make up for :o) the time spent here was all about relaxing and taking it easy. we all had a day trip to the monkey park which was good.  me and my sister got cornered by some cheek...
