Pointe du Raz, Brittany (France) Reviews
Aug 02, 2007
Pointe du Raz is perhaps the most famous headland in Brittany. It is well known for strong winds and huge waves. The cape is 72 meters high.
Until 1996 all parts of the area were accessible. Since then environmental protection measures have been taken to protect the local flora and recover the down trampled heath. Pointe du Raz now is one of the currently 32 "Grand site national". A heritage center was being built (no entrance fee).
Today there is a chargeable parking area (5 euro per car, 3 euro per motorcycle) at some distance. A free gas operated shuttle bus swings between there and the cape.
The panorama from Pointe du Raz is breathtaking. You overlook the Bay of Audierne, the Isle of Sein and the Pointe du Van. It is definitely worth a vist. Only drawback is that sometimes it may be overcrowded.
