Best clam chowder in San Diego Jun 16, 2008
Point Loma Seafood has the freshest and tastiest seafood. I have been going here for over 10 years and the quality of the food has not changed. I visit every time I am in San Diego and have made many friends and family fans over the years. You can get a good meal for between $8.00 and $12.00.

The location is just 10 minutes north of downtown, right next to one of the many marinas you will find in San Diego. Be prepared to wait a few minutes for parking on the weekends, though they do have someone out there managing the flow of traffic when it is busy.

This is the best place to go if you want to buy fresh fish to take away for a BBQ. Or if you want to go and sit out in the sun and eat.

It is a fish market with an area where they sell wines, seasonings and sauces. It can appear a little disorganized when you go in as people crowd around the counters and do not form lines. Just get as close to the counter as you can get and wait for one of the workers behind the counter to yell out "who is next?" Once you have given your order they will give you a number and you just wait for them to call the number to pay and collect your food.

For seating there are picnic tables outside in the sun or in a covered area on the side of the building. Or you could drive 2 minutes down the road to Shelter Island and grab a picnic spot by the water.

The clam chowder is the best I have tasted in all of California. Just my humble opinion. :)

WARNINGS: No credit cards!!!! And watch out for the seagulls, they have been known to swoop in and grab a snack out of your hand.
