Po Lin monastery, Ngong Ping plateau Lantau Reviews
monastery, incense, meditation Jun 16, 2010
I decided to take the bus number 23 from Tung Chung MTR-station uphills. It was a winding tour but the roads are in a very good condition. I could se much of the Lantau island that is connected to Hong Kong island by a narrow link for traffic.
The name is Po Lin monastery, and is the venue of some temples, worship places, a vegetarian restaurant.
Entering through the arcade to the monastery, this very day you didn t see much more than a couple of meters ahead up there. Meditational music welcomes you to the souvenir shops selling different kind of religious souvenirs. It is a nice park up there and the flowers were beautiful. you pass one little temple before you get to the big temple. The colours were scarlet red and golden yellow and the scent from the numerous incense sticks were heavy.Believers offer fruit to the gods and you can see oranges and apples in baskets and sacks in the temple.
There is a conference hall on the venue and also a vegetarian restaurant for the public. I decided to take my lunch in there.
