Plus berlin Reviews
PLUS is a definite PLUS in BERLIN!!! Jun 24, 2013
I stayed here as part of a Contiki (I was a quiet person, and I apologize for the noise of my fellow travellers) during the end of May for two nights. Biggest thing to note is this fact: there will always be at least two Contiki groups FYI. Located JUST outside the city center, near the East Side Wall galley.
Tram station is basically right out front of the hostel (just walk through the brick walkway and you are there). Can rent bikes for 10 euro per day. Train station is down the block from the tram station (rather quick walk) from train to hostel itself. In the area, there were food/supermarket options so that if you didn't want to eat at the hostel you didn't have to and wouldn't otherwise starve. Grungy bars past the train station, and area is mildly terrifying to walk through at night but that is perhaps some of Berlin's charm.
Outside of the hostel is awesome; inside is even better. Artwork outside the main lobby reception; lots of brochures available and information on bulletin boards and from the staff. Staff was very helpful and patient (especially dealing with us annoying Contiki people who kept asking the same questions). Building is Eco-friendly! Had motion-sensor lights in the hallways and rooms themselves. Also right off the bat noticed the place is definitely very clean! Very impressed even more since when I stayed it was pouring out!
WiFi worked wonderfully EVERYWHERE (though spotty in the basement but seriously, it's the basement and you shouldn't have your phone at the pool anyways) including the rooms! Lots of artwork all on the walls by various artists. Whole place had a modern-cool grunge vibe to it, fitting into Berlin perfectly! Noise not really an issue at all-didn't hear anything from the hallways, or outside in my room when I slept nor did my roommates. Elevator a bit far from my room located toward the back-elevators are in the front only (hauling a heavy suitcase up half flight of stairs was a bit irritating but manageable).
Our room was for 3 people and was huge: three twin beds, with a small table/desk and full-length mirror (loved by us ladies) and outlets were spaced nicely and conveniently. Flat screen TV in room but didn't turn on. Windows were huge-opened easily but no insect screens/barrier so be careful to not fall through. Drapes on windows blocked out all light. Beds were standard: not too comfy but good for a rest. Came with sheets/pillowcases, and we got towels. Towels could be exchange fresh daily, or you could reuse it (fitting in with the whole eco-friendly atmosphere). Room was very clean and tidy.
Bathroom was spacious: toilet worked wonderfully; shower was a water-saver (turns on for 10-15 seconds at a time and then goes off) so if you have long hair you're trying to wash or shave your legs its a bit irritating. Sink had a full sized vanity, and a mirror and hairdryer. Little cute soaps too on the vanity.
Note that this is a hotel AND hostel; I had one of the more hotel-like rooms; some individuals got hostel-like rooms which were smaller and had bunkbeds, FYI.
Laundry facilities were quick, and cheap (for wash, dry and soap to buy) and there were many machines. Pool and sauna with locker room in the basement. Restaurant and bar area on first floor opposite reception and court yard. Again, very modern-hip-grunge feel to it. Wonderful musical soundtrack. Menu is Italian food. Dinner was included for Contiki the first night (pasta/bruschetta/pudding) and tasty though a bit small (I was still hungry and grabbed food across the street after). Bar was adequate, and priced standard; service in bar/restaurant similar to many other places. Breakfast was a buffet (eggs, sliced meats, bread, etc.) and pretty much standard/usual. Long lines. Courtyard with artwork and real cute bunnies running around, with chairs, ping-pong table. Nice sitting area and noise didn't funnel up to my room.
Definitely loved staying here: would stay here again, and for a few days (longer than 2 nights).

Nice place for a good price Jan 07, 2012
Overall this place is very nice and clean. There's free Wi-fi in rooms and the location is perfect. Close to a few nice sights and also to the train station. The hotel also have a restaurant attached to it that i recommend for the cheap prices and the very good food.
The only thing that i didn't like that much is the staff. They are quite young and not very motivated. Well they are probably not all the same but the ones i met were like that.
One last thing, if you decide to go by car you might not be able to park in the road up front. They charge 7 Euro to park in the car park. I found it a bit expensive but i guess that's normal for Berlin.
