Plaza del Toros Sevilla Reviews
Iconic site in Seville Nov 13, 2010
Located near the banks of the river, the Plaza del Toros in Sevilla is the oldest building of its kind in Spain, one of the most visited sites in Sevilla and must be of one the most prestigious bullfighting arenas in the world. It also hosts the annual Feria de Abril festival, which is arguably one of the best known bullfighting festivals in the country.
Tickets are 6 Euros and this is always with a guide at various times of the day. The tour is extensive and allows you to see the bullfighting arena, backstage rooms, museum and even the small chapel which is frequented by the bullfighters. The tour is interesting and not too long, and plenty of photo taking opportunities are available. The tour guide gives a series of small talks in Spanish, followed by English, and questions are permitted at the appropriate stages (and answered rather nicely too!).
Whether you like bullfighting or not, this is definitely a part of Spanish culture and Sevilla’s tradition. It was a really nice visit and I hope to go back during April to October in order to catch a match perhaps?!
