Plaza Oaxaca

When I travel, I always bring my wife and kids home gifts that I want to be as authentic, traditional and unique to the country as possible. This time in Mexico I was turned on to Plaza Oaxaca, a very reasonably priced shop that sells something for everybody on the list. They had everything I needed: Mexican dolls to feed my daughter's growing collection of dolls of the world, animals (my son loves animals) and art and pottery for my wife and I. My library in my house contains a vast collection of shelf knick-knacks from all over the world and each has its own story. If you need a place in Mexico City to get souvenirs with character, I recommend that you start here. It is a little out of the way if you are staying downtown, but well worth the half-hour drive. Plus, once you get away from the inner city, the prices come down.
