Square! Nov 14, 2011
Constructed in the eighteenth century, plaza mayor is the premier square in Salamanca. Everyone that has visited the city must have come here at least once! The buildings that line the area are rather grand, and at eye level, there are plenty of shops, cafes and tourist places to go to (including a helpful tourist office). It’s a great focal point for the city, and I imagine that it would be a cool place during the summer or during national celebrations or other events. At the other times of the year, the weather might make this a more normal place; still, it’s somewhere that serves as a very easy meeting point.
