Good value, friendly Jun 05, 2011
Solo travellers always hesitate before entering a small restaurant with tables of four, but no worries here. Nice friendly service and a variety of mainly fish based menus. Portions huge. Started with Scallops and moved on to Haddock and chips, simple fare but beautifully fresh and well cooked. Picked it out off Google location map and did not disappoint. Fellow diners included an international group of marine biologists, and a Cornish lady who was the self appointed arbiter of pasty ingredients. So conversation never dull. Barbican area nearby was buzzing- partly due to the elderly Hells Angels meet, but a walk along the harbour in the evening sunshine makes a fitting finishing touch.

Best fish restaurant in Devon Apr 24, 2011
Despite being a seaside town, Plymouth does not host a huge variety of fish restaurants. Platters however is an exception. The business is divided into a standard fish n chips takeaway, and an eat in restaurant which doesn't resemble fish n chips in any way. A small, cosy, unsophisticated restaurant. Very busy, the local know about it! Always book.

The fish dishes are never over complicated but always mouth waveringly good. I particularly recommend the shell fish dishes, very messy but worth it!
